Isle of Purbeck Arts Trust
Supporting Artists within the Isle of Purbeck
The Isle of Purbeck Arts Trust has been set up to incorporate the two grant-giving funds formerly part of the Isle of Purbeck Arts Club: The Douglas Strickland Bursary Fund for schools and the Emmie & Rex Neate Fund for individuals as well as a Trust Fund for community projects.
Funds Available
There are three types of funds that are available that aim to support young art students, equipment purchases for schools, and local community projects.

Emmie & Rex Neate Bursary Fund
This fund primarily supports applicants pursuing an arts course (art, music, dance etc.) at university or college, younger students attending a specialist arts school or course and those just starting their careers. Grants range from £300 to £1200 annually.

Douglas Strickland Bursary Fund
This fund is to support schools in the Isle of Purbeck, enabling them to buy equipment and materials to support their teaching in all the arts. Grants usually range from £150 to £300 annually.

Community Project Fund
This is a new fund, established to provide local organisations with funding for short-term projects in the arts. The maximum grant available will be £250.

Emmie & Rex Neate Bursary Fund
The Emmie & Rex Neate Fund was also established over 30 years ago through a generous legacy part of which was ring-fenced to support the Purbeck Flower Group and the rest was to support young people studying an undergraduate course in an arts subject (art, music, dance etc.) or younger pupils attending specialist arts schools or taking specialist arts courses, and those who need help with the first stage of their professional career in the arts.
The trustees will meet twice a year in September and January, to consider submissions received by 8 September or 8 January, and a response will be sent to applicants by the end of those months.

Douglas Strickland Bursary Fund
The Douglas Strickland Bursary Fund has been supporting local schools in and between Swanage and Wareham for over 30 years with funds to help with the purchase of equipment such as reading books, classroom instruments, art materials and drying racks, printing screens and digital cameras to name but a few. The closing date for applications is 30th November.
